Stirring questions

If we agree to pick up a bottom-up approach on a micro-level, we have been arriving at these questions:

  1. Do you agree with the three obstacles to change on a micro-level mentioned (disorientation due to complexity, need to learn new skills in order to break with old habits, social acceptance) and what other explanations do you have for the discrepancy between knowing and acting?
  2. What do you think about the proposed ways to overcome the identified obstacles on the micro-level, i.e. guidelines for a good life, training programs, and mainstreaming (do you think they would work?) and what would you suggest as possibilities to push a societal diffusion of degrowth practices?
  3. What are the risks/limits of an approach like this focusing on changes on the micro level and neglecting the societal forces on the macro level?
